Mitchell Hamline School of Law alumna Megan Miller (’21) recently co-authored The Practitioner’s Guide to the PCT, a comprehensive guide to patent law published by the American Bar Association. Miller collaborated with Professor Emeritus Jay Erstling on the guide, the former director of the Office of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) at the World Intellectual Property Organization.

Their collaboration began years earlier when Miller was an international patent paralegal at the same firm where Erstling was of-counsel. Erstling encouraged Miller to pursue law, which led her to Mitchell Hamline and ultimately to co-authoring this important resource. The guide, which took over two years to complete, aims to help readers navigate the complexities of the PCT, a crucial system for those seeking patent protection in multiple countries. Miller’s expertise, combined with Erstling’s extensive knowledge, has resulted in a valuable tool for practitioners in the field of international patent law.
