OVERLAND PARK (July 31, 2024) — Lathrop GPM represented Kansas City-headquartered private aviation company Airshare, one of the largest fleet operators in the United States, in a strategic investment from global private equity group Kompass Kapital. The transaction was announced on July 16.
Kompass Kapital will now lead the Airshare ownership group, with previous investors maintaining an active role with considerable equity positions. The investment allocates significant dollars for strategic growth and expansion initiatives on the heels of a transformative year for Airshare. The company’s September 2023 acquisition of the Wheels Up aircraft management business doubled Airshare in size to nearly 600 employees. The Airshare Fractional Program also has expanded availability to nearly all states over the past 12 months, including recent entry into the Northeast and Southeast regions.
Airshare’s private aviation solutions include aircraft management, fractional ownership, jet cards, charter services and aircraft maintenance. The company operates a fleet of approximately 150 aircraft and provides aircraft management and charter services across the country.
Lathrop GPM’s team representing Airshare was led by partner Issaku Yamaashi.
