Kansas City (January 17, 2025) — Lathrop GPM is pleased to announce that Pro Bono Counsel Kate Nolen has been elected to serve as Co-President on the Board of Directors for the Association of Pro Bono Counsel (APBCo). APBCo was established in 2006 as a professional organization for attorneys and practice group managers who run a law firm pro bono practice on a full-time basis. Today, APBCo has almost 400 members representing 130 of the world’s largest law firms.
“It’s a huge honor to help lead an organization like APBCo,” said Nolen. “I’m thrilled to be able to use my experience, both in law firm pro bono leadership and previously at a nonprofit, to advance APBCo’s mission to maximize access to justice through pro bono.”
In her role with the firm, Nolen co-chairs the firm’s Pro Bono Committee, which supports the firm’s commitment to pro bono and community service. She combines the passions and talents of the firm’s attorneys with pro bono opportunities available in their community. She also coordinates in-house training on a wide range of topics to educate and prepare the firm’s attorneys to handle all of their pro bono matters.
Prior to joining the firm, Kate was the Director of Legal Services at Jackson County CASA, a non-profit organization that represents the best interests of children in the family court system.
