Kansas City (July 21, 2025) — Lathrop GPM LLP is pleased to announce that Alison Auxter has rejoined the firm as Partner and Deputy General Counsel. In this role, she will work closely with the firm’s General Counsel, Peter Daniel, to support the firm’s attorneys, employees and clients. She will advise on matters of professional responsibility, conflict management, and other internal firm operations.

Auxter brings two decades of legal experience, including the past 10 years as a trial attorney in the Division of Enforcement at the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). In that position, she investigated and prosecuted alleged violations of the Commodity Exchange Act and CFTC regulations, including civil enforcement actions involving fraud, misappropriation, Ponzi schemes, insider trading in derivatives products such as futures, options, swaps and digital assets. Auxter’s work supported the CFTC’s mission to promote the integrity, resilience and vibrancy of the U.S. derivatives markets through sound regulation.

Prior to joining the CFTC, Auxter spent nearly a decade at Lathrop GPM, then known as Lathrop Gage. During her tenure, she was a member of the Business Litigation group, where she handled complex commercial litigation matters and was well known for her leadership and strategic insight.

In addition to her client work, Auxter collaborated closely with then-General Counsel Brian Myers, advising on internal legal matters and earning a reputation for her legal insight and practical approach. Her reputation as a trusted advisor made her a natural choice for an expanded role supporting the firm’s Office of General Counsel.

“We are thrilled to welcome Alison back to Lathrop GPM,” said Cameron Garrison, Managing Partner of the firm. “Her deep experience in regulatory enforcement, litigation and legal ethics—combined with her prior service to the firm—makes her exceptionally well-suited for the Deputy General Counsel role. Alison understands our culture, our people and the importance of balancing legal precision with practical guidance. She will be an invaluable asset to our leadership team.”

Auxter earned her J.D. from Notre Dame Law School and her undergraduate degree and MBA from Pittsburg State University.
