Raymond J. Urbanik
Raymond Urbanik focuses his practice on bankruptcy and restructuring matters in Lathrop GPM's Dallas office. Ray has worked in a variety of bankruptcy cases and business restructurings in over 25 years practicing in Texas and New York where he is currently licensed, as well as throughout the United States.
Ray has been engaged as counsel for debtors, financial institutions, corporate creditors, receivers and trustees, creditor’s committees, insurance carriers, and purchasers of assets in Chapter 11 cases. He has also been involved in many types of bankruptcy litigation matters including bankruptcy appeals, complex executory contracts, fraudulent transfer litigation, lender liability cases, preference actions, property of the estate issues, non-discharge actions and equitable subordination claims. Additionally, Ray has worked on non-bankruptcy workouts, state court receiverships and has also been retained by trustees in contingency fee matters.
Ray is an active member in the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Turnaround Management Association. He previously served as the president of the Turnaround Management Association Dallas / Fort Worth Chapter. Ray is a guest lecturer at the University of Texas, Dallas campus, Naveen Jindal School of Management, where he speaks on Chapter 11 restructurings. Ray has also volunteered for a number of Dallas area non-profit organizations, including service as a board member for several Dallas area non-profit groups.
