Mitchell Martin

Mitchell Martin is an experienced attorney with a track record of success for his clients. A natural litigator, Mitchell has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch, the last two years in a row, 2021 and 2022, in the area of commercial litigation. He has tried jury and bench trials to verdict in state and federal court and has also briefed appeals to the Illinois Court of Appeals, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and the Supreme Court of Alabama. Currently, Mitchell splits his litigation practice between commercial litigation and civil rights litigation. He has significant experience representing major corporations in matters involving breach of contract, breach of warranty, premises liability and product liability claims in state and federal courts throughout the United States. With a strong passion for civil rights work, Mitchell also devotes a substantial portion of his litigation work to Lathrop GPM’s Civil Rights practice, where he has represented wrongfully incarcerated exonerees, tried court appointed cases to verdict, and defended the civil rights of private litigants, in venues all across the country.

In addition to his litigation work, Mitchell also assists clients with their compliance related needs in the growing areas of data privacy and cybersecurity.

Previously, Mitchell practiced with the national law firm Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, in Minneapolis, Minn., and St. Louis, Mo. He is licensed to practice law in the state courts of Missouri, Illinois, and Minnesota; the United States District Courts for the Eastern District of Missouri, Southern District of Illinois, and District of Minnesota; and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

Mitchell received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 2013 from Southern Illinois University School of Law in Carbondale, IL.
